A disagreement over a parking issue resulted in felony charges Sunday afternoon.

On February 2nd at approximately 1:11 p.m. Deputy R.L. Hubbard responded to Sedgwick Court for a disturbance involving a firearm. It was advised during a verbal altercation a male with unique neck tattoos brandished a firearm before retreating to his residence.

Deputies made contact with the reporting party and victims as additional deputies maintained a visual on the residence in question. It was discovered an argument broke out over a parking issue. The issue escalated when the suspect yelled obscenities towards the victims and brandished a revolver. The brandishing was caught on camera. Deputies would make contact with the suspect, Cody Ellwood, 34, of Stafford, at his residence and detain him. Due to the claims of a firearm being present, and Ellwood’s uncooperative behavior, a safety sweep of the residence was conducted. During the sweep, several suspected controlled substances were observed in plain view. Detectives obtained a search warrant and recovered not only the suspected controlled substances, but a revolver.

Ellwood was charged with four counts of brandishing a firearm, firearm possession by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of controlled substances, as well as, possession of controlled substances. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
