Six beers plus liquor. While that might sound like a country song, one Stafford man admitted to consuming that much after a “police” dog scared him out of hiding.
On November 4th at approximately 7:28 p.m. Deputy M.A. Holub was on Quarles Road investigating a disturbance. While in the area, Deputy Holub observed a vehicle leaving the area. Fearing the vehicle might be involved in the current investigation, Deputy Holub turned around and caught up to the vehicle. The vehicle however, was now unoccupied.
While searching for the driver, Deputy Holub heard movement in the woods. He was not the only one that heard something, as the incident had caused a nearby dog to start barking. The driver quickly made his presence known and requested “don’t let the dog get me”. The driver admitted he thought the nearby barking was from a police K-9. Not wanting to test his luck against a dog like Titan or Mija, he surrendered without further incident.
The 31-year-old driver had signs of being intoxicated, and admitted to consuming six beers, plus some liquor. He was charged with driving under the influence, and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
