A couple trying to enjoy late night pancakes had a rather frightful interaction after a Stafford man brandished a knife towards them.
On July 21st at approximately 11:40 p.m. Deputy A.J. Charoenthep responded to IHOP, located at 10 Simpson Road, for a report of a disturbance. The caller advised a male brandished a knife at her and her husband. The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect, making it easy for Deputy Charoenthep to locate him. The suspect was detained and during a search of his person, a knife was located.
It was advised the couple was having a meal when they observed the suspect eating leftover food from a vacant table and making staff uncomfortable. When the suspect approached the couple, the male asked him to leave them alone. The suspect refused the request and instead pulled out a knife. The couple was able to remove themselves from the situation and contact the Sheriff’s Office.
The 29-year-old suspect was charged with assault and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
