A Quantico man is lucky to be alive after a rather serious crash where alcohol was involved.
On February 27th at approximately 10:16 p.m. Deputy J.C. Thomas responded to Ramoth Church Road for a report of a single vehicle crash. When Deputy Thomas arrived on scene he observed the vehicle hidden deep in the woods with significant damage.
The investigation revealed the vehicle had come off the road, struck a sign, and then a large tree before ending up at the bottom of the steep embankment. The driver advised he only crashed due to him not being familiar with the roads and speeding. His story later changed and he advised he drank a four-drink flight just prior to driving.
The 23-year-old driver was charged with driving under the influence and the traffic lane violation. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Another example that drinking and driving never works out.
