A stolen vehicle has been reunited with its owner after a Woodbridge juvenile took it for a joyride that turned into a pursuit. On December 18th, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Deputy C.T. Richardson was at the Valero Gas Station located at 2142 Richmond Highway. While there, he observed a stolen vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle and Deputy Richardson made eye contact before the driver took off at an extremely high rate of speed. Deputy Richardson engaged in a pursuit northbound on Richmond Highway. The driver was traveling 90MPH in a 45 MPH as additional deputies responded to assist. The driver continued onto Coal Landing Road and then onto Confederate Way, ignoring stops signs along the way. Once the driver was on Antietam Loop, he parked in front of a residence and bailed out of the vehicle. Deputy Richardson initiated a foot pursuit that lead all the way to Pilot Knob Loop. The suspect attempted to hide behind an air conditioning unit; however, that did not go as planned. Deputy Richardson was able to locate the suspect and placed him in handcuffs. The 15-year-old suspect advised he stole the vehicle with the intent to go on a joyride. That joyride resulted in multiple charges including grand larceny, felony eluding, unlawfully entering a vehicle to set it in motion, driving without a license, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. Criminal complaints were submitted and the owner of the vehicle responded to the scene to regain their vehicle. Great work to Deputy Richardson for being vigilant and returning a stolen vehicle to the rightful owner.
