A Fredericksburg woman ended up incarcerated after making a scene in South Stafford.

On November 12th at approximately 11:00 p.m., Deputy A.M. Pitts responded to the area of Kings Highway and Little Falls Road for reports of a disturbance. The caller advised there was a woman in the roadway waving her arms. When Deputy Pitts arrived in the area, a woman quickly approached her asking if she was a real officer. Deputy Pitts was in fact a real officer and inquired as to what was happening. The woman responded saying all she knew is that she was really high.

The woman, later identified as Makayla Black, 20, advised Deputy Pitts that she came from “that way,” and would not provide much else. Black had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and was unsteady on her feet. As Deputy Pitts conversed with Black near the road, a vehicle started to drive past them. As the vehicle did, Black grabbed onto the passenger door attempting to gain access into the vehicle while screaming.

Deputy Pitts attempted to arrest Black at this point; however, Black was not making that easy. Black continued to resist and at one point during the struggle, activated Deputy Pitt’s radio to ask for more deputies. During the incident, Black nearly pushed herself and Deputy Pitts into the roadway. Luckily, no one was hurt and Black was placed into handcuffs.

Black was charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. A bond hearing was attempted; however, Black refused to cooperate. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending her ability to participate in a bond hearing. Great work to Deputy Pitts for remaining calm and deescalating the situation.
