A repeat DUI offender is in jail after a blown tire in South Stafford led to a plethora of charges early Saturday morning.

On October 15th at 4:51 a.m. Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen and Deputy B.M. Taylor responded to the intersection of Butler Road and Cambridge Street for a disabled Honda sedan in the roadway.

The deputies identified the driver of the Honda as Malik Dearing, 25, of Front Royal. As Dearing exited the vehicle a container of suspected controlled substances fell from his pocket onto the ground. Additional suspected controlled substances were located on him and in the vehicle.

Deputy Taylor determined Dearing had hit a curb, causing the damage to the tire. Dearing had bloodshot eyes and was disoriented and was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Dearing was charged with DUI second offense in five years, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, counterfeit inspection sticker and expired inspection sticker. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
