A complaint for an intoxicated driver Saturday night ended up being a 14-year-old out for a joyride to visit a friend. On April 2nd at 8:00 p.m. Deputy J.D. Hurt responded to a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of Garrisonville Road and Mine Road. The caller relayed the vehicle was failing to maintain the lane of travel and Deputy Hurt witnessed the vehicle nearly strike a curb. A traffic stop was conducted at 117 Garrisonville Road and the driver provided a fictitious name and date of birth, claiming to be 18-years-old. Deputy Hurt was able to contact the vehicle owner and learned the driver was actually the owner’s 14-year-old daughter. The juvenile had taken the vehicle without permission to visit a friend. The van and juvenile were released to the mother and Deputy Hurt will be obtaining juvenile petitions for false identification and driving without a license.
